Shell B53 Blow Molding HDPE | Food Grade, ESCR≥1000h for 20L Drums & Bottles | In Stock

Shell B53 is a type of HDPE plastic for hollow blow molding. It has strong melt strength and great resistance to stress cracks. Its melt flow rate is 0.35 g/10min. It meets food contact safety rules and we always have it in stock. It is a good raw material for 20L plastic drums. It also works well for food bottles, daily chemical bottles and chemical packaging containers.

Basic Product Specifications

This is new plastic material. It is milky white grains with few impurities and little smell. All batches have steady quality. It is packed in standard 25kg bags. We provide quality test reports for every batch, so you can track product quality fully.

Density: 0.955 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)

Melt Mass Flow Rate (MFR): 0.35 g/10min (190℃/2.16kg, ISO 1133, range: 0.30–0.40 g/10min)

Tensile Yield Strength: 26 MPa (minimum ≥24 MPa, ISO 527)

Charpy Notched Impact Strength: 12 kJ/m² at 23℃. It stays tough even in low temperature.

Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR): Tested with 10% Igepal CO-630 solution. Its ESCR F50 value is over 1000 hours, better than most common products in the industry.

Melt Strength: Compared with regular HDPE of the same melt flow rate, its melted material sags more than 30% less. This makes molding work more stable.

Core Product Advantages

Ultra High ESCR Performance Extends Container Service Life

This HDPE grade features exceptional anti-stress-cracking capacity with F50 ESCR index over 1000 hours. It drastically lowers cracking and liquid leakage risks under long-term contact with daily detergents, lubricants and mild industrial solvents. Compatibility testing is mandatory before packaging high-corrosion pesticide or strong acid/alkaline liquids. It is highly suitable for reusable logistics drums and cyclic industrial liquid packaging containers.

Outstanding Melt Strength for Stable Continuous Blow Molding

Extruded molten parison maintains stable shape with drastically reduced sagging tendency. It produces finished parts with uniform wall thickness and greatly suppresses common defects including uneven wall gauge, parison collapse and melt breakage. Compatible with all mainstream continuous blow molding production lines, it enables steady large-volume mass manufacturing.

Food safe and low odor

This plastic is food grade. It follows GB 4806.6-2016, FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and EU 10/2011 rules. It is pure and releases few volatile substances. You can use it directly to make oil bottles, juice bottles and food storage drums.

Firm and tough, good drop resistance

The material is firm and keeps good toughness in cold weather. Finished products will not change shape easily. They can stand hits and drops during transport, and reduce product damage.

Easy to process and support customized needs

You can mix it with other HDPE materials to change hardness, toughness and flow performance. We can also make customized products, such as special colors, tougher material and UV resistant material. These choices meet the needs of outdoor use and special appearance demands.

Typical Application Fields

Small Containers (0.2–2L)

Daily chemical bottles, small food bottles, sealed plastic boxes

Medium & Small Containers (2–20L)

Food packaging: Edible oil bottles, juice bottles, raw materials for 20L drums, water storage barrels

Daily chemical packaging: Laundry barrels, detergent bottles, disinfection containers

Chemical packaging: Lubricant bottles, reagent bottles, industrial additive barrels. Please do chemical resistance tests first before making pesticide bottles.

Medium Storage Containers (20–50L)

Industrial storage barrels, blow molded plastic parts, industrial cans

Recommended Blow Molding Processing Parameters

Barrel Temperature: 180–220℃. Raise temperature little by little from feed inlet to nozzle.

Mold Temperature: 20–40℃. Adjust the temperature based on product wall thickness.

Blow Pressure: 0.4–0.8 MPa. 0.5–0.7 MPa is fit for common products.

Drying: You do not need to dry the material under normal storage. If the grains get wet, dry them at 60–70℃ for 1 hour.

Blending: Mix this material with 10%–20% LLDPE. It will resist drops better and become tougher.

Quality Assurance & Supply Service

Genuine products: You can check product authenticity. We provide COA, RoHS, FDA and MSDS files for every batch.

In stock: Each bag is 25kg. We support small batch delivery and full container delivery. Pallet packing is also available.

FAQ

Q1: Will containers molded from Shell B53 crack when filled with industrial chemical liquids or daily detergents?A: This grade delivers industry-leading ESCR performance with F50 index exceeding 1000 hours, which drastically reduces cracking and leakage risks during long-term storage of mild daily chemicals and lubricants. Solvent compatibility testing must be completed in advance if high-corrosion chemical liquids are to be stored inside the containers.

Q2: Do we need to dry the material before use?A: No. No drying is required for normally stored grains. If the grains take in moisture, dry them at 60–70℃ for 1 hour.

Q3: Does Shell B53 meet RoHS and REACH rules?A: Yes. We can provide RoHS and REACH compliance papers with goods. It meets environmental standards for EU and global markets.

Q4: Can we use it to make food packaging?A: Yes. It is food grade. It follows China national standards, FDA and EU rules. It is safe to use and has little smell.
